Wisdom, Knowledge, Discretion, and Understanding

“Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons…” (1 Timothy 4:1)

There are many dangerous doctrines of devils out there.

One of them is that no one is a bad or evil person.

God disagrees.

“When wisdom enters your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul, discretion will preserve you; understanding will keep you, to deliver you from the way of evil, from the man who speaks perverse things, from those who leave the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness; who rejoice in doing evil, and delight in the perversity of the wicked; whose ways are crooked, and who are devious in their paths…” (Proverb 2:10-15)

According to Proverb 2:10-15 there IS an “evil way” or lifestyle and there ARE people who speak perverse things.

There ARE people who CHOOSE to leave the paths of uprightness to walk, instead, in the ways of darkness. There ARE people who rejoice in doing evil, and who delight in the perversity of the wicked. They don’t just do perverse things.

They DELIGHT in perverse things.

There ARE people whose ways are crooked, and who are devious in their paths. (They lie as a lifestyle.)

There ARE bad and evil people and it IS judgement to recognize

they are bad and evil.

Judgement is WISE discernment.

Judging does not have to do with putting others down; it has to do with evaluating based on evidence so that we may live wisely in regards to others.

So, God believes that some people are bad and evil people.

We would do well to agree with Him.

The God who believes that some people are bad and evil ALSO says that when wisdom enters our hearts and when real knowledge is pleasant to our souls…His discretion will preserve (put a hedge of protection around us) and His understanding will keep (guard) us and those will deliver us from (snatch us away and rescue us) from any evil lifestyles in which we might be trapped.

He also says He will deliver us from the bad and evil people who HUNGER to spiritually keep us in harm’s way.

If you have not yet received Jesus as your Lord….today is a good day for that. Allow wisdom to enter your heart.

If Jesus IS your Lord….is HIS knowledge “pleasant to your soul”? Or do the things God believes still bother you? If so, why not ask Him to “transform and renew your mind”?

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but BE TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWING OF YOUR MIND, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:1-2)

Apparently….in God’s eyes (according to Proverb 2:10-15) ….”having Jesus”, when coupled with enjoying Him in our soul, is key to how God delivers and guards our hearts.

May we all learn to enjoy the pleasantness of God’s knowledge in our souls.
